Philosophy

It is quite difficult to express the atmosphere of a tourist region into words. We would gladly quote a guest who keeps returning to the Glacier Region Kaunertal-Fendels and treasures tourism, yet wants nothing to do with a Disneyworld in the mountains or with Ballermann-Ski Resorts:

"The goal of this wonderful little high mountain valley is to convey to its guests the sheer pleasure of these mountains, in an honest, customer friendly, casual and last but not least,  very reasonable approach."

Logo - model

The Kaunertaler Glacierbahnen has had a new logo since October 2005, with the symbol of an ibex.

The ibex symbolizes the Alpine Mountain World like no other animal can, and above all has a far reaching tradition in both neighbouring valleys, the Pitztal und Kaunertal: The ibex practically became extinct around 1800. It served as a type of universal folks healing medicine, and only survived in private game preserves of King Viktor Emanuel II in the Southern Alps and in Swiss zoos.

In 1953, the Pitztal Valley Hunting Association began a repopulating project for the ibex. Before long, these wild ibex spread out to the Kaunertal Valley. The Regions Pitztal and Kaunertal became known as having the largest Ibex colony in Austria. The ibex is now used to represent the symbol for the coat of arms of both municipalities, Kaunertal and St. Leonhard in Pitztal.

In reference to the region, the Nature Park Kaunergrat and the Pitztal  and Kaunertal Gletscherbahnen have both incorporated the ibex as a symbol for company logos.
